The Peace Corps has created a better world by establishing bi-directional relationships between Americans and other nations. Its enduring ambition to share American ideals while embracing the values of other cultures is at the core of the mission; it is the connective tissue between them. The Peace Ring signifies this exchange through artful sculptural expression. The Peace Ring symbolizes the circular nature of relationship building through the geometry of the Mobius. The ring’s surface is twisted such that its back side is connected to the front, making it an endless surface with a double-sided expression. These two sides embody the bi-directional character of sharing, and together they become a singular expression of peace. Points of light on the ring represent our individual contributions to this narrative and become part of a greater pattern of continuity. The Peace Ring will become an iconic illustration of the American commitment to peace and prosperity for all people.
