Origin, birth-place, nation, locality — words that describe perceived notions of home, and belonging. Birds, mammals, amphibians, seeds, and insects migrate from one territory to another in pursuit of new domestic frontiers, resources, knowledge, growth, and opportunity. Each moves through walls and barriers en-route towards new horizons — the challenge therein to find open doors, oft camouflaged by the illusions of translation and adaptation.

Walls and doors are vertical borders, obstructing or allowing admission, while the horizon line, particularly as defined by geographic features such as Lake Ontario, serves as an extra-political inter-regional commonality. When we gaze to the horizon, we are no longer nationalistic but are reminded of a geographic unity in an expanded territory. This proposal engages the viewer in the experience of migration; inviting Torontonians to open and close the doors as they migrate through the corridor. The manipulation of the doors creates a visible celebration of our shared journeys towards the future, through its super-graphic illustration of the horizon line.
