One morning a local Torontonian awoke to find a stray house walking the quay, though no one could explain whence it came. Some say it sprouted from CabbageTown, well known for Victorian Bay – And Gable Architectural Style. Other’s say that it must have walked from the nearby - Little Italy, where hundreds of these mountainous roof peaks can be seen lining the street.

It became an enigmatic local legend, with spottings in various locations at the waterfront Park. Others claim to have seen it at the Simcoe Wave Deck, gazing out over the frozen lake like a watchful steward. Turned upside down, gang and nail truss construction exposed to the sky supporting its former roof-plane - a warm underbelly soffit for winter flaneurs to huddle below - where light trickles through the cracks of its roofing shingles. A Toronto Mascot, transmitting signals of local character in the cold wintery landscape.
